JodiLyn Solomon

We are very happy to introduce JodiLyn Solomon as Congregation Agudas Achim’s new Director of Congregational Learning!
JodiLyn will take on a wide range of duties to help build community and family learning while helping our children grow into Jewish adults. As director of the Hebrew School she will work with Rabbi Talya and the Education Committee to develop curricula and manage school programs and she will teach Hebrew and prayer in the Upper School; she also will plan and implement family programming including Tot Shabbat, intergenerational Shabbat B’Yachad, and children’s services for High Holidays.

JodiLyn has a very strong background and experience in education. She has a Master of Education from UMass Boston, a Master of Jewish Studies from Siegel College of Jewish Studies, and a Master of Library and Information Science from Kent State University. She has managed a seven-state school library consortium providing digital resources and curricula, and consulted with school libraries nationwide. She has also been a librarian, media specialist, and/or information literacy specialist in Arizona and at multiple schools in the Cleveland area.

Her professional experience in Jewish education began at Kesher in Cambridge, and continued at Temple Sinai in Brookline, where she directed the high school, the lower school, and the intern program. In Ohio she designed and implemented an independent Jewish studies program for families in the Cleveland area, and was a faculty member at Kent State University in the Hebrew and Jewish Studies Department, before beginning her most recent role at Kol HaLev, a Reconstructionist community in Cleveland.

JodiLyn says of herself, “I have a strong background in Jewish Education and a passion for meeting learners where they are, and helping them down the path of where they want to go. I most recently developed and ran a Reconstructionist community Hebrew/Prayer program for about 15 years in the Cleveland, Ohio area. I am excited to listen to you and learn together! I am moving from Ohio, so I look forward to meeting you once I am settled in Attleboro. Thank you for the opportunity!”

JodiLyn has two children: AJ, who is already a teacher in our Hebrew School, and Rose, a graduate student of Mathematics at Boston University. In addition to JodiLyn’s work with Agudas Achim, she also will be a school librarian at 360 High School in Providence. She also runs Camp Lilac, an overnight camp for trans and gender diverse youth.

With all of these experiences, and great attitude and energy, I hope you see why we are so excited to welcome JodiLyn to Agudas Achim! Please share this news with anyone you know who might be looking for a Hebrew school; we would love to be able to expand our offerings and programs!
